A $6.4 million capital investment program is to transform Caterpillar Shrewsbury UK's machining facility into a state-of-the-art department, increasing its ability to bid for a more diverse range of business.
The Shrewsbury UK facility applies the most innovative machining and remanufacturing processes to clean, refurbish, reassemble and update our broad product base which includes a wide variety of military, rail and Cat® machine engines, transmissions and drive line systems.
The capital investment will enable the business to purchase two five-axis state-of-the-art machining centers for both aluminum and iron components, flexible pallet loading solution for both machines and a new wash for machined components. The funding has been provided by Caterpillar's Remanufacturing, Components & Work Tools division following a series of reviews on Shrewsbury’s ambitious strategy.
The facility is currently in the process of selecting the main supplier of the required equipment and aims to have the machines on site by the end of 2015.
"We are tremendously excited about where this capital investment can take us," said Shrewsbury Facility Manager, Stephen Brown.
